Pact ignites Innovation with Inpact
Inpact Innovation is the innovation heart of Pact. Inpact was created as a standalone business within the group, designed to help Pact customers win in their categories. The cross-functional team includes industrial designers and engineers, inventors, marketing and other specialists focusing on sustainability and environmental aspects.
Inpact’s formal innovation methodology is underpinned by our strategic partnership with ?WhatIf! Innovation and uses real insight to underpin our ideas and create new products that make life easier for our customers and consumers. We utilise a network model working with global suppliers and alliances for rapid prototyping, 3D modelling and 3D printing as a fast fail measure.
Our innovation projects engage both creative experts and core consumers to allow for more divergent thinking. Inpact’s innovation projects have delivered customer driven outcomes that include: new product innovations; packaging innovations; pipelines for adjacent product offerings; and identifying ‘white space’ gaps in the market.

Introducing our new LIGHT PROOF™ Bottle
Milk should be kept in the dark. You shouldn’t
You wouldn’t leave food in the sun, so why expose milk to the light? Whether you realize it or not, light drains some of the goodness out of milk. It typically deteriorates vitamins A and B2, which are essential for healthy skin, bones and eyes, and also play a role in boosting your immune system and cell reproduction.
Milk sees the light long before it soaks into a favourite cereal, completes a creamy coffee, or makes a homely meal. From the conveyor belt, to the truck, to the shelf, to your fridge: light gets in along the way. Only 100% life proof packaging protects milk from light damage, and the Anchor triple layer bottle is the only fresh milk packaging in New Zealand that is 100% light proof.
Our new LIGHT PROOF™ bottle
After two years in the making, we’re excited to take milk storage to the next level in conjunction with Fonterra in New Zealand, who released the first LIGHT PROOF™ bottle in their Anchor range. We’re not just proud of our LIGHT PROOF™ bottle because it’s a world-first, we’re proud because it preserves both the nutritional value and freshness of milk.
Eighty per cent of customers told us they prefer the taste of milk that hasn’t seen the light. Our new packaging helps both the consumer and supplier milk freshness for all it’s worth.
How it works
Even though opaque cartons and bottles already exist, up to 25 per cent of light still finds its way through the packaging and into the product.
The engineering behind the LIGHT PROOF™ bottle is simple; it starts with an induction foil sealed cap that keeps light out at the bottleneck and finishes with three light-protective layers that make up the body. A black layer is sandwiched between two white layers to guarantee the contents of the bottle is 100% shielded from light.
Protecting both freshness and the Environment
Our LIGHT PROOF™ bottle is made from the same plastic as normal milk bottles (high density polyethylene), which means it’s still recyclable. Three layers do not translate to three times the amount of plastic, either. Each layer is created simultaneously, resulting in a single, featherweight structure that’s less than one gram heavier than standard milk bottles.
The LIGHT PROOF™ bottle keeps light out to keep the goodness in!
Introducing… Twinlock™ – a packaging revolution for chilled, convenient, fresh and frozen food.
This unique innovation was the 2012 winning entry to the Applause Awards, our group-wide Reward and Recognition program. This patented technology is able to deliver a quality of reheated food never before seen!
Twinlock™ is an innovative twin tray system that cooks the meal with steam ensuring meals are never dry or drowned – perfect for applications such as fresh or frozen seafood, prepared vegetables and convenience meals.
Introducing our Perfect Paint Pail
Goodbye old rusty world, hello new! This ergonomically designed paint pail has been created as a result of the Inpact team collaborating with all of the people along the supply chain who need to use it. Our process took us from the paint factory, into trade stores, peoples’ homes and put ourselves in the hands of tradies, DIYers, colourists, and we even went back to TAFE. What we gleaned were hundreds of insights as to where the existing packs could be improved and then used our design and engineering skills to create a better offer.
Check out all the features and benefits by visiting www.painterspail.com.au
In short – it is perfect for both Trade and Tradies. The easy peel and reseal lid, base grip for pouring and removal of the gully make for an easy to use pack. Trade store team members are delighted by the efficient pallet configuration, reduced weight and increased stacking strength.
