Pact Group’s first customer Barker’s, will use Superlock™ to package its Anathoth Farm products, sold throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Described as a pioneering solution in plastic packaging, Superlock™ has a user friendly, easy to open and close click-on screw lid. The package also can also utilize proprietary barrier label substrate to deliver extended shelf life, particularly to oxygen sensitive products in the ambient supply chain, by substantially reducing oxygen permeation. The opportunities to use this new form of packaging are huge – it can be used across multiple categories, for food items such as pasta sauces, hot fill soups, chutneys, jams, peanut butter, single serve yogurts, cream and desserts.
Mark Nothnagel, General Manager of Commercial and Manufacturing Development at Pact Group explained the Superlock™ technology is another example of how the Pact Group leverages its International Technology alliances and partnerships to help its customers to have access to leading edge innovative packaging as a way of differentiating their products.
Mark said, “We’re very happy to be partnering with RPC Superfos and Barker’s to launch Superlock™ in Australia and New Zealand. It offers a number of benefits to brand owners, retailers and consumers, which to date are not available from existing packaging solutions. Undoubtedly, one of the key benefits of Superlock™ are related to functionality. The new label technology delivers a greatly extended shelf life, which is important for oxygen sensitive products. Furthermore, we feel the main attraction for retailers will be the enhanced level of functionality delivered through a handy screw-on and screw-off lid that allows the product to be easily opened and resealed.”
In terms of branding, SuperLock allows brand owners and retailers to enhance the quality of the decoration on products, through Injection In-Mould Labelling (IML). These labels allow enhanced graphics and images and also permit the use of transparent sections to create see-through areas.
Pact Group says the Superlock™ technology is just another demonstration of their desire to offer its customers cutting edge solutions that allow them to grow their market share through packaging innovation. At a time when brand owners are facing increased competition and finding it harder than ever to make their products stand out, Pact Group’s General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Innovation, Siobhan McCrory said there is certainly a need for it.
